All too often, we find ourselves captivated by a rug's design or colors, leading us to make impulsive purchases. Regrettably, the importance of choosing the right size is often overlooked, with many of us simply relying on a "guesstimate."
However, if a rug is too large, it will literally devour the space and dominate all you see. On the other hand, if it's too small, it may get lost amidst the decor, failing to fulfill its role as an "anchor" that visually “ties the room together”. The result? A lack of balance that will jump out at you and leave you wondering, «It looked great in the photo... Why doesn't it look the same in my house?»
The first and most important step, perhaps even the only one, is to grab a measuring tape and determine the size you need.
If your furniture is already in place, that's perfect! You can even utilize the trusty painter's tape to simulate the rug. It won't leave any marks on the floor and will provide you with a clear visual representation of the area corresponding to the rug's dimensions.
LINVINGROOM
The rug in your living room should be at least the size of your sofa, or slightly larger. Ideally, it should extend about +/- 20 cm beyond the edges of the sofa, providing maximum comfort under your feet, no matter where you're seated.
