Choosing the right size rug

Choosing the right rug is no easy task. Factors like style, patterns, and colors come into play, but one aspect often overlooked is the issue of size. The rug is a key element of decor, the heart of any room, and selecting the proper size ensures a harmonious result. To make your decision easier, we've created this easy-to- follow guide to assist you.

With such a wide array of options, it can be overwhelming to navigate through the choices.

The same rug is often available in multiple sizes and even different shapes. So, how do you choose the one that will fit in your space ?

Let us guide you through the process and help you make an informed decision that suits your needs.

All too often, we find ourselves captivated by a rug's design or colors, leading us to make impulsive purchases. Regrettably, the importance of choosing the right size is often overlooked, with many of us simply relying on a "guesstimate."

However, if a rug is too large, it will literally devour the space and dominate all you see. On the other hand, if it's too small, it may get lost amidst the decor, failing to fulfill its role as an "anchor" that visually “ties the room together”. The result? A lack of balance that will jump out at you and leave you wondering, «It looked great in the photo... Why doesn't it look the same in my house?»

The first and most important step, perhaps even the only one, is to grab a measuring tape and determine the size you need.

If your furniture is already in place, that's perfect! You can even utilize the trusty painter's tape to simulate the rug. It won't leave any marks on the floor and will provide you with a clear visual representation of the area corresponding to the rug's dimensions.

LINVINGROOM

image

The rug in your living room should be at least the size of your sofa, or slightly larger. Ideally, it should extend about +/- 20 cm beyond the edges of the sofa, providing maximum comfort under your feet, no matter where you're seated.

A spacious living room pairs beautifully with a SHAGGY rug - This plush-pile rug at the foot of the sofa will bring comfort and warmth thanks to its velvety look and the softness of its fibres.

In a smaller living room with a 2-seater sofa, opt for a size smaller and place the front legs of your sofa on the rug. This creates a stylish and cohesive relaxation área.

BEDROOM

Rugs in the bedroom offer gentle awakenings and cozy warmth for your feet. Choose a rug size based on the width of your bed to ensure a harmonious and stylish look.

To accommodate a standard king-size bed, opt for a generously sized rug. A uniformly wide border on all sides creates a balanced look, ensuring optimal comfort.

DINING ROOM

For the dining room, the size of the rug depends on the size of your table. You can choose either a round rug or a traditional rectangular rug.

Additionally, we would like to suggest our machine-washable collection, ideal for easy and stress-free cleaning.

For a traditional rectangular dining table that accommodates 6 guests, we recommend a rug size of 200x275cm. This ensures that the entire dining area is framed by the rug, creating a visually appealing space.

If you have a round dining table, we highly recommend considering one of our trendy round rug models that will add a fashionable touch to your decor.

As the first thing your guests see when they enter, choosing a runner rug that sets the tone for your entire home, is essential. You don't get a second chance to make a good first impression.

Ofcourse, like any other rug, our runner rugs have been designed and crafted to withstand high traffic areas. They are durable and resistant to life's little mishaps caused by children or pets.

Available in various sizes to accommodate everyone's needs :

  • 80x150cm Ideal for a studio or a small flat. Subtract about 1 metre from the length of the corridor and leave a space of about twenty centimetres on the sides so that the rug does not take a form of a wall to wall rug
  • 80x220cm Generally more suitable for a home. Avoid placing furniture on the rug to create a harmonious and welcoming entrance.
  • 80x365cm If you have a particularly long corridor, to reduce the visual impact of a very long and narrow space.

OUTDOOR

Our OUTDOOR rugs are the chic asset of sunny days for a stylish living room outside! They blend effortlessly with any materials: a wooden terrace, an aluminum veranda or a woven resin furniture set.
